Save the Earth and Save Some Cash in New Series

Thursday night design lineup. Premiering Thursday, September 6 at 10:30 p.m.,
this environmentally conscious makeover series shows how household waste can
have a global impact - and proves that going green doesn't have to be extreme.
Each week Wa$ted! takes a different family, audits their waste and energy
usage with the show's unique eco-calculator and confronts them with the
terrifying truth about their long-term impact on the planet. Environmental
expert Francesca Price puts each family on a green regime to clean up their
act. Price, a British journalist and TV presenter, is joined by builder
Tristan Glendinning. The pair uses the term "ecological footprint" to explain
the load each family is imposing on the planet through their lifestyle. After
tracking the family, Francesca re-calculates their household footprint and, if
they've cleaned up their act, then she gives them their green.
From worm-farms and rainwater barrels to solar power, this energetic,
entertaining and informative series turns polluting homes into green havens,
while allowing families to cash in on serious savings.
In the first episode, premiering Thursday, September 6 at 10:30 p.m., the
Petelos family learn that they produce twice the garbage of the average
household, half of which comes from the youngest member of their family. They
waste power and money on their dryer and other appliances; and Patrick spends
three hours a day burning through gas in traffic. With the help from the
Wa$ted! team, the Petelos will save $1250 in household bills every year, and
reduce their household footprint by a third.
Wa$ted joins a strong Thursday night lineup of design programming that
