Address labels will be mailed in Nova Scotia on October 20th
NOVA SCOTIA, Oct. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - As Nova Scotia residents begin to
receive their 2008 War Amps address labels this week, they will find enclosed
a letter from the Association's CEO Cliff Chadderton noting the anniversary of
what was called "the war to end all wars."
"November 11th, 2008 is the 90th anniversary of the end of the First
World War, a war which, sadly and proudly, my family recalls due to service in
Flanders of young men from both sides of my family," Mr. Chadderton writes.
"But there is another significant reason to mark the occasion," he says.
"I refer to the thousands of youngsters in our Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program
who have joined Operation Legacy, which was started by The War Amps to ensure
that future generations will understand the importance of Remembrance."
Mr. Chadderton adds, "It has been a wonderful privilege to see the manner
in which youth have adopted our military heritage message, based on The War
Amps seminars and internationally award-winning documentaries. Supporters of
The War Amps share in our legacy of commemoration."
He includes some significant dates and facts about World War I in the
letter, and also tells some of the lesser-known stories of war on his new Blog
Sent as a thank you to supporters of The War Amps Key Tag Service,
