TORONTO, Dec. 13 /CNW/ - Executive Producer Bill Nemtin announced that
the legendary American journalist Walter Cronkite is to receive the first
Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Board of History Makers:
International Summit of History & Current Affairs Producers. The Board is
composed of Broadcasters and Producers from USA, Canada, The UK, Italy, and

For almost two decades Mr. Cronkite served as anchorman and managing
editor for the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. He was America's witness
to the major stories of the twentieth century including the assassinations of
President John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy,
the Vietnam War, the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the Watergate scandal. He was
often named by pundits and polls as "the most trusted figure" in American
public life. Politicians, intellectuals and fellow journalists regularly
scrutinized every nuance in his nightly newscasts for clues to the thinking of

History and current affairs' best will be honoured at an evening gala
where the History Makers board will bestow a Lifetime Achievement, as well as
an award for Best Program of the Year. The first ever Awards Gala, will host
industry luminaries from all over the world.
