Wal-Mart Canada jump starts Christmas earlier than ever with national toy price cuts

Popular toy prices reduced - some by 50% or more - with additional
    reductions planned

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - Wal-Mart Canada stores nationwide have
reduced prices earlier than ever on many of the season's most popular toys -
some by more than 50 per cent. The company has rolled back the prices of more
than 150 toys, more than any prior October, with plans for more Rollbacks in
the toy department and throughout the store in the lead-up to the holidays.
Sales data indicates that customers are increasingly shopping on the
basis of price. Wal-Mart Canada has already lowered 30 per cent more prices in
all categories storewide this year, compared to last. Wal-Mart Canada plans to
have thousands of price reductions prior to Christmas.
"We're starting our Rollbacks earlier than ever because times continue to
be tough for many customers and we're finding that, in many cases, they'll
need to spread out the expense of the holiday shopping over a longer period of
time," said Sylvain Prudhomme, Wal-Mart Canada's senior vice president of
merchandise. "We're rolling back prices where it matters the most this holiday
season. Toys and gifts for kids are typically the first items customers want
to check off their Christmas list."
Research and customer feedback suggest that some Canadians plan to start
their shopping sooner than in past years and many will buy gifts early. While
customers are becoming more price conscious, it is expected that an early
start will allow them to better absorb holiday costs.
"Times continue to be tough for many customers and we're committed to
bringing them value and the lowest prices on the things they need and want
this holiday," added Prudhomme. "For many customers, our pricing cuts will
mean a better holiday for their children and families this year. Toys are just
a start."

Below are a few of the many popular toys on Rollback:
