TORONTO, Sept. 2, 2011 /CNW/ - On Friday, September 2, during the
morning and afternoon rush hours, Metrolinx and GO Transit will work
with Humanity First to do its part in raising funds for Africa
Volunteers will be located in the GO concourse at Union Station and the
Union Station Bus Terminal and will be accepting cash donations for
Africa in the morning from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m., then again in the
afternoon from 2:30 until 6:00 p.m.
"What's happening in Africa is a tragedy and we are pleased to be able
to help bring some relief," said Bruce McCuaig, Metrolinx President and
CEO, "All contributions from our employees, customers and friends will
help support these relief efforts in Africa."
All money raised will go to Humanity First, a not-for-profit
organization that is currently providing food, water medical and
sanitation supplies at refugee camps at Kenya-Somalia borders. The
drought in northeast Africa has affected over 10 million people and is
the worst drought experienced in the area in the past 60 years.
Humanity First Canada is a Canadian-based international humanitarian
relief organization, established to provide assistance to those who are
less fortunate and help improve the quality of life in under-privileged
