Virgin Mobile Canada challenges you to do whatever it takes to help end youth homelessness! empowers users to pick a stunt and raise cash for Virgin Unite and Virgin Mobile's RE*Generation Movement

TORONTO, Nov. 16, 2011 /CNW/ - How far would you go to help end youth homelessness? Starting today, Virgin Mobile Canada is partnering with Virgin Mobile USA and Virgin Unite, the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group, to kick off a new fundraising program to end youth homelessness across Canada and the United States.

Do Whatever It Takes is throwing down a challenge for people to create an online pledge promising to do a crazy, whacky or interesting stunt once they've hit their fundraising goal. All donations will go right to Virgin Unite's and Virgin Mobile's RE*Generation initiative to help provide crucial services and resources to create bigger futures for homeless and at-risk youth.

"Youth homelessness is an ongoing issue that we simply can't afford to ignore. There are more than 65,000 homeless youth in Canada. With a program like this, we can harness the passion of our Members and all of their friends and families to have some fun while supporting an amazing cause," said Andrew Bridge, Managing Director, Virgin Mobile Canada. "Do Whatever It Takes will spread awareness of the issue and get people to show off their desire for change. Whether you're donating to a pledge or setting up your own challenge, you'll be making a huge difference for at-risk youth in need - and you may even get to show off your wild side at the same time!"

"It is unacceptable that young people don't have a place to call home and we are missing their talent and potential from the world. We are honoured to be raising awareness of the issue and helping everyone show their support and take an action. Your support will help our partners on the ground who are dealing with these young people's issues on the frontlines. It's easy and simple to act and you can also have fun along the way." commented Jean Oelwang, CEO, Virgin Unite.

Will you do whatever it takes?

Whether it's dressing up in a sparkly tutu or eating a plate of insanely hot peppers, Do Whatever It Takes will let you get as crazy as you can to help homeless youth. By creating an online account on, you'll be setting up a personal challenge to perform a special talent, a creative idea or even a jaw-dropping (but safe!) stunt for a set amount of cash donations. When you've hit your fundraising goal, it's time to complete your "whatever" and record it for the world to see!

To spread awareness for the campaign, Virgin Mobile and Virgin Unite have enlisted the help of popular YouTubers and bloggers, including Michael Buckley, Toby Turner, Corey Vidal, and Timothy De La Ghetto.

"I'm so grateful to be in a position to help the homeless youth population," said Michael Buckley of the "What the Buck?!" show. "I know that kids are kicked out of their homes, often for being gay, and this weighs on my mind every day. I hope people will donate to see me will learn as many gymnastics tricks as possible and nail them! NAIL THEM!!! Or fall on my face….. Either way it will make a great video!"

Set up your own pledge or donate to a friend in need - every bit of help matters! Considering doing the odd and the extraordinary for a great cause? To create a pledge to do whatever it takes for homeless youth or to give to someone's "whatever," check out
