Vintage clothes get a new lease on life in Double Take Fashion Contest

TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - One of the city's top second-hand stores is challenging bargain-conscious fashionistas to channel their inner Audrey Hepburn and create fabulous outfits to win amazing prizes.

Double Take, located at 310 Gerrard St. East, is hosting its 2nd annual Designer Dare contest on Nov. 24, 2011. The contest, built around the theme of The Cocktail Hour, asks participants to refashion items purchased at Double Take into a new outfit that celebrity judges deem chic and sophisticated enough to be considered cocktail wear.

For a $10 entry fee, participants get a $25 gift certificate to Double Take to buy items for their outfit.

Outfits can be assembled at any time up until judging, which takes place between 4-6 p.m. on November 24th. Ensembles will be assessed on durability, creativity and fashion appeal. The top 10 outfits will be presented on the runway later that evening.

Entrance forms are available up until Nov. 23rd at Double Take. Prizes include a phenomenal day with a top Toronto designer, a vintage fur coat and Double Take gift certificates.

Double Take thrift store is one of Toronto's premiere gently used clothing outlet stores. Part of Toronto charity Yonge Street Mission, Double Take employs community residents, provides job skills and training, and offer quality, affordable clothing.
