Viable candidate denied entry into Vancouver election

TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Amidst all the fervor of this Saturday's mayoral election in Vancouver, there's one candidate that's unjustly being left off the ballot. Curly Fries, a.k.a. The People's Fry, has been unsuccessful in its repeated attempts to enter the race. Given this candidate's willingness to break through the barriers of bureaucracy and shake things up in Canada's third most populous city, this injustice may be the first loose thread in the unraveling our democratic tapestry.

Recently voted "Canada's Favourite Fry" in a nationwide election held by Arby's Canada and advertising agency, Blammo Worldwide, Curly Fries is a seasoned candidate. Literally.

Now, in a selfless act of public service, Curly's attempt to leverage some political momentum and throw its hat into Vancouver's mayoral race is being stonewalled. Numerous inquiries into the electoral office have been unsuccessful. As the clock ticks down to Saturday's election, Curly still has yet to be granted candidacy.

Concerned citizens like Scot Keith, a longtime Vancouver resident, had this to say, "I want the most qualified candidate to represent our great city. If that's a Curly Fry, so be it." There are plenty of others who feel the same way as Mr. Keith and view this pressing matter as an affront to the democratic process.
