AJAX, ON, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - Veridian Corporation has been named as one of
the Top 75 Employers in Greater Toronto. The award is the result of an annual
competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. More than
2,000 Toronto area employers participated in the contest, all vying for
recognition as leaders in offering exceptional places to work.
"We are thrilled to be recognized as a top employer in Greater Toronto,"
said Michael Angemeer, Veridian's President and CEO. "We've long held the
conviction that employees are our greatest resource, and we continually look
for new and innovative ways to attract, retain and motivate our team. It's
very satisfying to know that our efforts have created a work environment that
has been recognized in this prestigious competition and a company that is
recognized as a leader in the communities that it serves."
Participants in the Top 75 Employer competition were assessed in the
areas of physical environment, work atmosphere, benefits, vacation and time
off, employee communications, performance management, training and
development, and community involvement. Through this comprehensive review the
contest judges compared employers to others in the same lines of business, to
determine which offer the most progressive work environments.
According to Fred Damiani, Veridian's Manager of Human Resources, a
recent safety achievement is evidence of how the company stands out from its
peers. "In an industry where safety is of particular importance, our employees
recently surpassed 2,000,000 hours worked without a lost time injury," he
says. "The achievement of this goal required almost seven continuous years of
work without a single work related injury that resulted in time off. It's an
amazing accomplishment for our employees and their families and one that we're
all very proud of."
Damiani points out that Veridian's status as a top employer is owed to a
corporate culture that embraces safety, innovation, creativity, social and
environmental responsibility, and service excellence. "We've come to
understand that a great workplace requires much more than just an attractive
physical environment", he says. "Our human resources strategy is focussed on
helping employees realize their full potential through contributions to our
business and the broader community. It's a strategy that has created an
inspiring place to work where employees can feel proud to know that they are
making a real difference in the world."
