Venmar Ventilation announces a product safety upgrade program for certain models of heat recovery ventilators

    DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, Nov. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Venmar Ventilation is
voluntarily and immediately implementing a Product Safety Upgrade Program for
certain Heat Recovery Ventilators that it manufactures. Venmar is asking
owners of units covered by this program to immediately turn their unit off,
unplug it and contact the company as soon as possible by phone at
1 866 441-4645, by visiting their website at, or by mail at
SUP-2007 Program, 550 Lemire blvd, Drummondville, QC, Canada, J2C 7W9.
    It has come to Venmar's attention that some thermal protectors used by
the supplier in the fabrication of some motors may not be effective, which may
result in a potential fire hazard. In all other respects, these products
comply with all applicable CSA, UL and other safety standards, and are
protected by circuit protection under the National and Local Electric Code.
Venmar will send a field technician who will inspect and fix the affected
units, free of charge.
    This program affects selected units produced between October 2006 and
August 2007 and distributed under the brand names of : Venmar, Venmar AVS,
vdnEE, Rheem, Ruud, Protech, Carrier, Bryant and Broan. Only the units with
the following model numbers are covered by this actual program. The model,
along with the date of manufacture, are located on a silver or black label
positioned on the outside panel of the unit.

    The model number of the unit appears just under the first bar code.
    The serial number is situated just under the second bar code.
    The 5th and 6th digits indicate the year of manufacture. In the example
    "07" meaning 2007.
    The 7th and 8th digits indicate the month. In the example "03" meaning
