    VANCOUVER, Nov. 8 /CNW/ - Tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter
Games are a hot topic, as is evident by the impressive number of visitors and
subscribers to following the recent release of ticket
information by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and
Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC). Since the ticket program announcement on
Thursday, October 11, has received more than one million
page views while online registration for ticket updates has increased by
nearly 20 per cent to roughly 65,000 subscriptions. Website traffic on the day
of the announcement was the third highest in VANOC's history.
    "We are delighted to see this growth in traffic to our website and in our
subscriber list," said Caley Denton, VANOC vice president, ticketing and
consumer marketing. "This further supports our research that the demand for
tickets will be high and also confirms that spectators are keen to receive
information early. People are planning ahead for our on-sale date a year from
now. They recognize that is the best source for complete
information on the Games and how easy it is to be well informed by having
updates sent to them by email."
    By signing up at, the public receives important
news and next steps for the user-friendly ticket program, delivered directly
to their inbox. In addition, subscribers are also sent:

    -   A 2010 Winter Games competition schedule and other helpful Games
        planning tools
    -   2010 Winter Games online ticket exchange and donation program
    -   Details on how to set up an online ticket account ahead of the first
        day of ticket sales

    Tickets for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be available for purchase
in October of 2008, with prices starting as low as $25. VANOC's Official
Supporter Jet Set Sports, and its affiliate company CoSport, is the only
company authorized to develop and supply official Vancouver 2010 hospitality
packages. All other tickets will be sold through VANOC directly or through
individual countries' National Olympic Committees.

    VANOC is responsible for the planning, organizing, financing and staging
of the XXI Olympic Winter Games and the X Paralympic Winter Games in 2010. The
2010 Olympic Winter Games will be staged in Vancouver and Whistler from
February 12 to 28, 2010. Vancouver and Whistler will host the Paralympic
Winter Games from March 12 to 21, 2010.
