Vancouver Taboo Show Highlights Sexy Cabaret Entertainment

VANCOUVER, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - Vancouver is witnessing the revival and
celebration of cabaret entertainment at Maxine's Hideaway. "When times get
tough, people find happiness in cabaret", says Maxine's Hideaway owner John
(J.D.) Henderson. Cabaret entertainment is raw libidinous song and dance
entertainment that appeals to everyone, young and old, rich and poor. Cabaret
forms the basis of modern films such as Moulin Rouge and Chicago. It can also
be described as the perfect combination of "American Idol" and "So You Think
You Can Dance", except the performers wear less and the atmosphere is
reminiscent of a smokey cabaret restaurant.
Maxine's Hideaway is the new epicentre of the highest quality song and
dance cabaret entertainment this side of New York City. Why Vancouver? Only
Leigh Torlage can answer that. Leigh is the choreographer responsible for
creating all things cabaret at Maxine's Hideaway. Leigh herself was a
performer in the Chicago the Movie and Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway.
She has taught thousands of women (and men) her style and passion for sexy
song and dance performance. Her dance classes have taken on near cult
obsession with women as they liberate their souls by learning to strut and
tease. Twelve years ago Leigh began training professional dancers in her
Broadway style. Her first show to launch was the all-girl song and dance group
the Candy Girl Cabaret. Even though there is no nudity involved the only place
that would allow them to perform was Vancouver strip club The Penthouse. They
consistently packed the house and soon became a regular feature. Fast forward
a couple of years and now Leigh's Candy Girl Cabaret and her all-male group,
the Oh Boy! Cabaret, perform eight shows a week at Maxine's Hideaway. The
Candy Girl Cabaret and Oh Boy! Cabaret are also featured performers at
Vancouver's Naughty But Nice Sex Show that opens this Thursday at the
Vancouver Convention Center.
"It really is something to experience", says J.D., "everyone who walks
into Maxine's Hideaway says the same thing... I can't believe this is in

Maxine's Hideaway is a cabaret restaurant within a 100 year old mansion
located in Vancouver's West End with a notorious history as a former brothel
with secret tunnels. Leigh Torlage's Candy Girl and Oh Boy! Cabaret shows
perform nightly from Tuesday through Sunday. If you've never experienced
quality cabaret before here's your chance... For the month of January Maxine's
is offering free admission to its Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday shows and will
be performing each day at the Taboo Show.
