Vancouver parents say, "Don't close our school"

    VANCOUVER, Nov. 27 /CNW/ -

    On November 28th, the VSB will be presenting to parents and community on
the recommendation to close the school based on low enrollment.
    Parents and members of the community feel that the school board are not
basing their decisions on the current mandate as set by Vancouver Board of
Education Trustees. Parents feel strongly that by closing Garibaldi it will
lead to a weakened community, environmental concerns, safety issues and a lack
of programming options for children.
    Parents are demanding that the school board reinstate Garibaldi Annex
within the facilities review process, basing their decisions on the mandate
for life long learning.
    Parents' desires for small community schools, schools where children can
walk and programming needs are met in their own neighbourhood, are not being

board's perceptions of Garibaldi and save a wonderful community school.
