VANCOUVER, June 20 /CNW/ - Vancouver Foundation is pleased to announce
the appointment of Catherine Clement to the position of Vice President,
Communications and Marketing.
Ms. Clement has an extensive background in strategic communications
planning in both the public and private sectors and has directed
communications projects for foundations and not-for-profit organizations.
For the last eight years, she served as the Director of Communications
for the City of Vancouver. In that role, she spearheaded communications for
most of the City's largest and most complex initiatives such as the Woodwards
redevelopment, EcoDensity, 2010 Winter Games preparations and the 2010
Much of her work has involved communicating, educating and engaging
citizens on complex issues. Her efforts were recognized in 2005 when she
received, on behalf of the City of Vancouver, a United Nations sponsored World
Summit Award for best e-government web content.
Ms. Clement will lead Vancouver Foundation's work to promote philanthropy
in British Columbia, as well as showcase initiatives being undertaken by
not-for-profit and charitable organizations to address a variety of community
Vancouver Foundation is Canada's largest community foundation with assets
in excess of $800 million. In 2006, the Foundation provided grants of $40
million to hundreds of organizations across the province, supporting community
work in the areas of: animal welfare; arts and culture; children, youth and
families; education; environment; health and social development; health
research; and youth. It also released Vancouver's Vital Signs - the first
annual, comprehensive report on the city's livability and wellness.
