Vale Inco and United Steelworkers Local 6166 Reach Tentative Agreement

    THOMPSON, MB, Sept. 12 /CNW/ - Vale Inco Limited's Manitoba Operations
today announced that the Company and Local 6166 of the United Steelworkers
have reached a tentative deal on a new three-year collective bargaining
    The proposed agreement, which is being unanimously endorsed by the union
bargaining committee, covers 1,250 bargaining unit employees at the Company's
fully integrated nickel mining, milling, smelting and refining facilities in
Thompson, Manitoba, and goes into effect when the current contract expires on
September 15, 2008.
    Details of the proposed agreement will not be made public until an
employee ratification vote has taken place.
