TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Valdez Gold Inc. ("Valdez" or the "Company")
(TSX-V - VAZ) is very pleased to announce that Michael Skead has accepted the
position of President of the Company. Mr. Skead will oversee all aspects of
the Company's exploration projects in Mexico, and will also be responsible for
identifying new resource investment opportunities. Mark Goodman will remain
CEO of the Company. Mr. Skead's appointment is subject to approval by the TSX
Mr. Skead was most recently the Vice-President of Exploration for Banro
Corporation, a Canadian-based gold exploration company with properties in the
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He was responsible for all exploration
activities for Banro in the DRC and for advancing their projects to the
pre-feasibility stage. Previously Mr. Skead was the Exploration Manager for
SAMAX Gold and was responsible for the discoveries of the Kukuluma and
Matandani gold deposits in the Geita Greenstone Belt in Tanzania. As a result
of these discoveries Ashanti Goldfields purchased SAMAX Gold in 1998. The
Geita Mine is currently the largest open pit mine in east Africa. Subsequently
Mr. Skead held the position of Exploration Manager for Ashanti Goldfields
until 2001. Mr. Skead has an M.Sc. in Exploration Geology from Rhodes
University in the Republic of South Africa, and is presently completing his
Ph.D. thesis at Rhodes University.
Mr. Goodman commented: "We are very pleased that Mike has agreed to

experience overseeing and developing exploration programs in a number of
environments, and his success at SAMAX and Banro speaks for itself. We feel we
have found the ideal person to take our Mexican properties to the next stage
of development and also to find new resource opportunities for the Company."

Mr. Skead's appointment will begin in mid-October 2007.
