Upper Canada Local President Wins ETFO Newsletter Editor's Award

TORONTO, Aug. 14 /CNW/ - The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO) today presented Diane Dewing, president of the Upper Canada Occasional
Teacher Local, with the Newsletter Editor's Award (multi-sheet publication).
The award, which was presented at the federation's annual meeting in
Toronto, recognizes and rewards the outstanding work done by editors who have
created at least two issues of a local ETFO newsletter during the school year.
Award criteria include the content, quality, and general overall appearance of
the newsletter. Dewing received the multi-sheet category award for the
quarterly publication, Occasional News.
"Occasional News keeps members appraised of professional development
opportunities, membership protection advice, social events, terms of the
collective agreement, and pension issues - in short, news and information that
connects members to their colleagues, their profession, and their union," ETFO
President Emily Noble said.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents more than
70,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers across Ontario
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
