Up-and-coming chefs battle for kitchen supremacy at the Alberta Foodservice Show

    CALGARY, Oct. 12 /CNW/ - Many hunger for international fame, but only one
of Alberta's hot new chefs will make the cut in a competition taking place at
the new Alberta Foodservice Show.
    On Oct. 28 and 29, Calgary's Roundup Centre will be home to the Rising
Star Chef Challenge, where emerging chefs from Alberta restaurants will go
head-to-head with rising stars from Alberta hotels to prepare and plate a
single dish - in 15 minutes or less!
    Competitors must use all of the locally produced ingredients provided -
plus one of their own secret ingredients - and the final creations will be
assessed by a panel of judges. The winning chefs from the Sunday competition
will advance to the final challenge round on Monday.

    This year's competitors are:

    11:30 a.m. -       Colin Dunn          vs.    Harold Holoboff

    11:55 a.m. -       Melanie Lafleur     vs.    Bruce King
    12:15 p.m. (Sun)   (Redwater Rustic           (Blackfoot Inn)

    12:20 p.m. -       Robert Fedosoff     vs.    Matt Percy
    12:40 p.m. (Sun)   (Rush)                     (Hotel Arts)

    12:45 p.m. -       James DeLong        vs.    Kimberly McNeil
    1:05 p.m. (Sun)    (The Living Room)          (The Delta Hotel South)

    The final round of competition will take place on Monday from 11:30 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. For biographies of the competing chefs, visit
    The winning chef from Monday's final will have his or her recipe
published on bottles of Calvados Boulard sold around the world.
