                       IMAX Completes 2008 Film Slate

LOS ANGELES, CA, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX:
IMX) and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that The Day The Earth Stood
Still, directed by Scott Dickerson and starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer
Connelly, Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Jaden Smith, will be simultaneously
released to both IMAX(R) and conventional theatres on December 12, 2008. The
film, which is a remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film about an alien visitor
and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth, will be digitally re-mastered
into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with
proprietary IMAX DMR(R) (Digital Re-mastering) technology.
"The suspense, action and sheer intensity of The Day The Earth Stood
Still is ideally suited to IMAX's immersive format," said Bruce Snyder,
President, Domestic Distribution, Twentieth Century Fox. "We're very excited
to once again expand our relationship with IMAX to offer moviegoers a chance
to experience another one of our tent-pole movies in a truly unique and
premium way."
"Completing our 2008 slate with this action title is a great way to enter
the holiday season and kick off 2009," said IMAX Co-CEO's Richard L. Gelfond
and Bradley J. Wechsler. "With the ongoing rollout of IMAX digital theatres,
we expect that on December 12th the size of our network will be considerably
larger than it is today, which is good for IMAX, exhibitors in the IMAX
business, our partners at Fox and, of course, moviegoers."
"We're thrilled to once again be back in business with Fox with another
big holiday release," added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed
Entertainment. "We expect an action-packed film like this to appeal a wide
audience, including the elusive tech-savvy 15 - 30 year-old demographic. With
crystal clear images, IMAX's powerful digital surround sound and immersive
theatre geometry, the earth certainly won't feel like its standing still in
IMAX's theatres on December 12th."
