Turkey Farmers of Ontario help food banks gobble away hunger

    Six community barbecues benefit local food banks across Ontario

    TORONTO, June 22 /CNW/ - Turkey Farmers of Ontario, Maple Leaf Foods
Inc., Schneiders, and the Ontario Association of Food Banks (OAFB) have teamed
up to help relieve hunger across Ontario with the first annual Gobble Away
Hunger Turkey Barbecue fundraisers.
    Thanks to these partners, six community food banks will be hosting
barbecue fundraisers this Saturday, June 23rd. The barbecues offer guests the
opportunity to purchase Schneiders' Grill'ems Turkey Sausage and refreshments
in support of local and provincial hunger relief efforts.
    "We are pleased to lend our support," said Heather Nahatchewitz of Turkey
Farmers of Ontario. "We know the summer months are the most difficult for many
food banks in terms of food and funds. This our way of helping to bridge that
    Gobble Away Hunger is taking place in Belleville, Brantford, Chatham,
Lindsay, Niagara Falls, and Wasaga Beach.
    "Food banks in Ontario find it increasingly difficult to meet the growing
need in their community, and it is a struggle to keep up over the summer,"
said Adam Spence, Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Food Banks.
"Turkey Farmers of Ontario, Maple Leaf Foods and Schneiders recognize the hard
work that food banks do year-round, and have made a commitment to help fight
