TSN and TSN2 Announce 2008/09 NBA Broadcast Schedule with More Toronto Raptors Games than Ever Before

    TORONTO, Oct. 22 /CNW/ - It's a slam dunk for basketball fans. TSN and
TSN2 hit the hardwood for the 2008-09 season with more Toronto Raptors and NBA
games than any other Canadian broadcaster. The networks unveiled today an
impressive national NBA broadcast package, which includes 48 Toronto Raptors
regular season games with 25 games exclusively available on TSN2.
    As part of the package, TSN/TSN2 will broadcast 30 other NBA regular
season games along with the NBA All-Star Game. During the NBA Playoffs,
TSN/TSN2 will have a minimum of 17 games including Raptors games throughout
the post-season and exclusive Canadian coverage of the NBA Finals. All games
are available in High Definition.

addition of Jermaine O'Neal, and Chris Bosh coming off an impressive gold

    Toronto Raptors Coverage
    TSN/TSN2 is the new home of the Toronto Raptors. This season, both
networks will deliver more Toronto Raptors games than any other broadcaster
with 23 Raptors games on TSN and 25 games on TSN2. Toronto Raptors coverage
gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 1 with Toronto @ Milwaukee at 8:30 p.m. ET on
    With Chris Bosh, Jose Calderon and newly-acquired Jermaine O'Neil leading
the way, the Toronto Raptors will be the team to watch in the NBA this season.
Highlights of the TSN/TSN2 48-game Raptors broadcast schedule include 30
Eastern Conference match-ups with nine of the games against Atlantic Division
rivals (see broadcast schedule below).

    Raptors highlights include:
    -   A match-up against Kevin Garnett and the 2008 NBA Champion Boston
        Celtics on Jan. 12 on TSN
    -   Three games featuring NBA superstar LeBron James and the Cleveland
    -   A head-to-head confrontation with League MVP Kobe Bryant and the LA
        Lakers on Feb. 4 on TSN2
    -   A game against Canadian superstar Steve Nash and Phoenix Suns on Feb.

    TSN's All-Star NBA Broadcast Team
    TSN also confirmed today that popular and charismatic basketball
commentator Jack "The Coach" Armstrong will officially join TSN as the new
Raptors Game Analyst and Basketball Insider. Armstrong will join Raptors
play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin courtside during all of the TSN/TSN2
Raptors games.
    Armstrong is featured in regular SportsCentre segments and writes a weekly
NBA blog for TSN.ca
    Rod Black will host the TSN NBA studio show along with Leo Rautins, TSN's
basketball analyst. Black and Rautins will be on-site at Air Canada Centre for
Raptors home games and will anchor the show from the TSN studio during away

    More NBA Action
    Basketball action doesn't stop with the Raptors. This season, TSN2 will
deliver 24 additional NBA games to Canadian basketball fans and TSN will also
broadcast six NBA games featuring U.S.-based teams.
    TSN2's full NBA line-up will feature marquee match-ups throughout the
season including many West-Coast games. In addition to the slate of Raptors
games, TSN2 will broadcast 12 contests featuring Victoria's Steve Nash and the
Phoenix Suns, five Boston Celtics games and five LA Lakers games - including a
rematch of last year's NBA Finals, with LA @ Boston on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.

    NBA Playoffs
    When the games matter the most, TSN and TSN2 will deliver Canadian hoops
fans non-stop NBA playoff action. The networks will have exclusive Canadian
coverage of the NBA Finals along with extensive coverage of the Raptors
throughout the post-season. TSN and TSN2 will air a minimum of 17 games
throughout the duration of the NBA Playoffs including key match-ups from both
the Eastern and Western Conferences.

    NBA All-Star Weekend
    TSN and TSN2 will have exclusive coverage of all of the jams and slams
during NBA All-Star weekend from Phoenix on February 14 and 15. In addition to
carrying the All-Star game live, TSN/TSN2 will have coverage of all of the fun
from All-Star Saturday Night with the electrifying Slam-Dunk Contest and the
Three-Point Shootout - an event where Toronto Raptors' Jason Kapono is the
defending champion.

    Audience Growth
    TSN is coming off a successful Raptors regular season in which the network
delivered a national per-game average audience of 165,000 viewers - a 7%
increase over last season and the third most-watched Raptors season ever on
    TSN has been televising Raptors basketball since the 1997-98 season.
