GOLDEN (DENVER), CO, June 25 /CNW/ - Mr. Sidney Himmel, President and CEO
of Trigon Uranium Corp. (TSX-V:TEL; "Trigon"), is pleased to announce the
Board of Directors of Intercontinental Potash Corp. ("Intercontinental
Potash"). The directors of Intercontinental Potash that have been appointed,
subject to shareholder approval, are The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew, Mr.
Anthony J. Grey, Dr. George Poling and Mr. Sidney Himmel.
The Honourable Pierre Pettrigrew:
The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew has had a long and distinguished career
in both public and private sectors. He has led a number of senior departments
as a minister in successive governments of Canada. He was foreign policy
advisor to Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau from 1981 to 1984, and on October
1996 was promoted to the department of Human Resources Development, where he
was responsible for more than half of Canada's budget. On August 1999 he
became Minister for International Trade. He was appointed Minister of Health,
Minister of Intergovernmental affairs and Minister responsible for official
languages December 2003. From July 2004 to February 2006 he was Minister of
The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew holds a M. Phil. (International
Relations) from Balliol College, Oxford University, Great Britain, and a
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from University of Québec at Trois-Rivières. He
has written numerous articles on international affairs.
Anthony J. Grey:
Mr. Anthony J. Grey has been the Chairman of International Ferro Metals
Limited, a ferrochrome and mining company since 2002, and is also a director
of Mega Uranium Ltd. Mr. Grey was formerly the Managing Director of
Pancontinental Mining Ltd., which discovered Australia's Jabiluka uranium
deposit. Mr. Grey has also been Chairman of Precious Metals Australia. Mr.
Grey is widely recognized as an authority on the Australian uranium industry.
Mr. Grey graduated with a BA in History (Hons) and a Juris Doctor from
the University of Toronto. Thereafter, he practised law with a major law firm
in Toronto for seven years. He emigrated to Australia in 1972.
Dr. George Poling:
Dr. George Poling is a director of Trigon Uranium Corp. and also Quadra
Mining Ltd., a multi-asset copper and base metal producing company which owns
and operates the Robinson Mine of Nevada and is constructing the Carlota
copper project located in Arizona. Dr. Poling retired from the position of
Professor in the Department of Mining and Mineral Process Engineering at the
University of British Columbia in 1997 after 29 years of service. He also
served as the Research Director at the B.C. Mining Association. He is the
author of over 80 refereed scientific publications and patents. Dr. Poling has
received numerous awards during his career including the Henry Birks & Sons
Gold Medal for Highest Standing in Engineering, 1957, the University of
Alberta, the Walter Gage Teaching Award, University of British Columbia, 1987,
and the CIM Distinguished Lecturer Award, 1983-1984. He holds a Ph.D. in
Mineral Process engineering from the University of Alberta, 1963, and a B.Sc.
in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, 1957, also from the University of
Mr. Sidney Himmel:
Sidney Himmel, the President of Trigon Uranium Corp., is also the
President and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Potash. Mr. Himmel
has over 17 years experience in Canadian capital markets, having worked at
major investment dealers over that period of time. Earlier in his career, he
practiced as a tax specialist with a Canadian national auditing firm. He is a
member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and a member of
the American Chemical Society, and a recipient of awards from the Canadian
Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Securities Institute. Mr.
Himmel has been an adjunct professor in corporate taxation at the business
school of the University of Toronto, and has also written various publications
in taxation and accounting. He has edited a publication on the financing of
private pre- IPO biotechnology companies. He has been with Trigon Uranium
Corp. since 2003 in various capacities.
Scientific Advisory Board:
Intercontinental Potash is establishing a Scientific Advisory Board to
advise with respect to the marketing of potash and potash-related fertilizer
minerals. It is intended that this board will include agricultural specialists
including soil scientists. Mr. Robert J. Hite, a potash consultant to
Intercontinental Potash will chair this Board. Mr. Hite joined the U.S.
Geological Survey in 1956 and investigated potash, phosphate, coal, and
petroleum in the western United States in that capacity. In 1964 he was
assigned full time to research of potash and marine evaporites. He has
published over 90 papers and abstracts concerning the geology of evaporites,
potash deposits, and petroleum occurrences in evaporites. Since his retirement
from the USGS, Mr. Hite has consulted on potash and evaporites in Argentina,
Canada, China, Egypt, Laos, Nigeria, Russia, Thailand, and Turkey.
