Tracy Wiersema - Elected President to Ontario College of Pharmacists

    TORONTO, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - Tracy Wiersema, B.Sc.Phm., RPh. was elected as
the 2008/2009 President of the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
    Ms. Wiersma is currently practicing pharmacy at Shopper's Drug Mart in
Barrie, Ontario. She has supported the field of pharmacy in Ontario by serving
on several College committees including Executive, Professional Practice,
Complaints, Structured Practical Training, Fitness to Practice,and Discipline.
Over the past several years, Tracy has also been an active volunteer in her
community, delivering various presentations and training sessions related to
raising awareness and understanding of healthcare related topics.

    Established in 1871, The Ontario College of Pharmacists licenses and
regulates all Ontario pharmacists and community pharmacies. Pharmacy, as a
self-regulated profession, is one of over 20 health professions in Ontario
regulated by its College, which was established to oversee the profession
under the Regulated Health Professions Act. The College's primary role is to
set and enforce the operational standards for community pharmacies, to ensure
pharmacists continue to provide Ontarians with high quality, ethical
pharmaceutical care.
