"Touched By Fire" ignites creativity

Mood Disorders Association of Ontario overwhelmed by response

TORONTO, Oct. 11 /CNW/ - Over 240 works of art, created by artists with
mood disorders, have been entered in the Mood Disorders Association of
Ontario's (MDAO) art show and on-line gallery entitled "Touched By Fire".
"We are overwhelmed and gratified by this response. We expected to
receive about 80 to 100 entries. To receive over 240 is a real testament to
the creativity and courage of artists with mood disorders. We feel honoured
that these artists have chosen "Touched By Fire" to showcase their work," says
Karen Liberman, Executive Director of The Mood Disorders Association of
Ontario (MDAO).
Joey DAMMIT!, recognized as one of Toronto's most successful artists is a
big supporter, "Touched By Fire is a celebration of artists with mood
disorders. Having a mood disorder, I know all too well how these illnesses can
overshadow your talent. I'm thrilled to be associated with this program that
provides not just a showcase for our art, but also access to information and
support for those who face the challenges of living with a mood disorder
"Touched By Fire" will feature paintings, drawings, and photography and
will be available for viewing (and for purchase) both through a special
on-line gallery and a week-long exhibition next month.
The "Touched By Fire" exhibition will begin Thursday evening,
November 15th, 2007, with a private reception at the Gladstone Hotel on
Toronto's Queen Street West. It will continue at the Gladstone through
Tuesday, November 20th. The on-line gallery, with a full range of art not
displayed at the Gladstone due to space limitations, will be available for
viewing - and shopping - as of November 16th. The site can be accessed at
www.touchedbyfire.ca. Procedural details for those wishing to enter their work
