Tory says election will be about integrity, leadership

QUEEN'S PARK, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - On the first official day of the Ontario
provincial election, PC Leader John Tory vowed to put his record and his
results up against Dalton McGuinty's any day - and is looking forward to doing
just that over the coming weeks.
"I promise you that I will work tirelessly over the next four weeks to
share my vision and my plan for Ontario with you, to gain your confidence -
and earn your trust," said Tory. "And then I will continue to work tirelessly
for the next four years, keeping my word to you and building a better,
stronger Ontario with you."
Tory has proven himself to be a strong leader time and again. His party
has laid out a fully costed plan that will bring transparency and integrity
back to government while focusing on the priorities of all Ontarians. Tory has
pledged to:

    - Improve health care results by increasing funding by $8.5 billion by
the end of a PC government mandate and through better management
    - Protect Ontario families and communities with a clearly defined
        action plan for crime
    - Fix the education funding formula and increase funding for public
        education by $2.44 billion annually
    - Expand Ontario's education system to include all Ontario students
    - Improve the quality of the air we breathe, while ensuring a reliable,
        sustainable energy supply
    - Deliver truth in taxes, ensuring that dollars collected from the gas
tax and fuel tax fund transit and roads across the province
    - Repeal the regressive health tax and return hard-earned tax dollars
        to Ontario taxpayers

"Real leaders welcome accountability. They thrive on it. And they are
proud to be judged by the results they achieve," said Tory. "You cannot lead
if you have lost your credibility, if trust has been broken. Keeping your
promises matters."
Tory spoke of his vision for a new beginning in Ontario, putting
investment, economic growth, social progress and fairness back at the centre
of the government's agenda. He stated that after four years of McGuinty's
government, Ontario needs real leadership to get back on track.
For a better Ontario, leadership matters.
