TORONTO, April 27 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro crews continue to make
significant progress restoring power to remaining areas of the City that were
affected by power outages as a result of a severe rain storm on the weekend.
Power has been restored to customers in the Scarborough area at Midland
Road and St. Clair Avenue East. Power has also been restored to the
streetlights at Milliken and Finch and it is estimated the remainder of the
customers affected at Milliken and Finch will be restored shortly.
As of approximately 9:00 a.m., Toronto Hydro System Control reports that
approximately 700 customers still remain without power as a result of
localized outages throughout the City. Toronto Hydro crews have reduced the
number significantly, which at its peak totalled 4,200 and will continue to
restore power as quickly as possible.
The City of Toronto reminds all residents to refer to the latest edition
of 'Our Toronto' newsletter issued last week which includes power outage tips
and an emergency planning guide.
Our focus remains on the safe and speedy return of power to all
