VANCOUVER, Jan. 28 /CNW/ - TIC Travel Insurance Coordinators Ltd. raised
over $20,000 for charity this past holiday season, the result of the company's
decision to donate to charity on behalf of its travel agents and insurance
TIC president and CEO, David Hartman, said it was important that the
company contribute to worthy causes during the holiday season. "As a company,
we've always felt that we should give back to our communities whenever we have
the chance," said Hartman.
Last year TIC decided to donate to charity on behalf of their agent and
broker customers rather than giving traditional holiday gifts. The "Have a
Heart" program was such a success, TIC decided to continue the campaign for
the 2008 holiday season.
"We thought that donating to charity was more aligned with our company's
values of community support," said David Hartman. "Good business depends on
responsible corporate citizenship."
TIC donated to three charities: OneChild, Canadian Association of Food
Banks and Canadian Diabetes Association. Throughout December and early
January, brokers and agents voted for the charity they preferred. TIC
collected the votes and donated to the charities in proportion to the votes
TIC staff also organized a number of internal events that raised money
and created awareness for the campaign.
