MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Aug. 3 /CNW/ -- The Woodbridge Group(R) is excited
to learn Cargill Inc. has recently been recognized by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, with the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award,
which promotes innovative chemical technologies that reduce negative impacts
on human health and the environment.
Woodbridge believes Cargill's BiOH(TM) polyol innovation is an important
advancement in plant-based polyurethane foam chemistry. This precursor to
manufacturing polyurethane foams is produced by refining oil derived from
soybeans. "This significant development milestone successfully bridges the
performance gap of the past and truly addresses the key limiting issues of
yesterday's bio-polyols, namely odor and reactivity," states Dave Miller, Vice
President of Technology for The Woodbridge Group. "Woodbridge and Cargill have
partnered extensively for quite some time, to offer an environmentally
improved alternative for automotive foams derived from various biological
The Woodbridge Group is now proud to announce BioFoam(TM) plant-based
polyurethane products, as a key component of its renewable resource strategy.
After extensive viability testing, Woodbridge BioFoam products offer today's
highest green content levels available, for each product performance category.
The BioFoam product line is also the first mass-production ready, high
performance plant-based polyurethane foam solution for automotive applications
including seat cushions, head-restraints, arm-rests and overhead systems.
BioFoam products meet all required product performance criteria, and are
currently going through select customer validation and approval processes.
BioFoam products now provide up to 25% bio-based content and Woodbridge
has recently announced laboratory trials have achieved 100% Bio-Polyol
substitution. Ongoing development strives to make this latest innovation a
viable option for the future, to provide customers choices that offer an even
stronger commitment to the environment.
