    VANCOUVER, Jan. 10 /CNW/ -

    Event:    Valuing Coastal Forests. One Big Puzzle - Many Small Pieces,
              65th Annual TLA Convention & Expo
    When:     January 15 to January 18, 2008
    Where:    Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre, Pan Pacific Hotel,
              Fairmont Waterfront Hotel
    Photo     Giant forestry equipment will be moved to the downtown location
    Editors:  from 10:00 AM to noon Monday January 14th, and 7:00 AM to
              11:00 AM Tuesday January 15th. The Martin Mars Water Bomber
              will perform several water drops outside the Convention Centre
              in the Vancouver Harbour. The best viewing location is at the
              end of the Convention Centre Pier. Weather permitting; drops
              will take place January 16th at 3:00 PM and January 17th at
              11:00 AM. Photo editors are asked to contact this office at the

    About the TLA:

    The TLA (Truck Loggers Association) represents 500 independent coastal
forest contractors in British Columbia. The TLA promotes a thriving,
sustainable forest industry in BC and fosters communication and education
within resource communities, urban centres and governments.

    About the convention:

    As the coastal forest industry continues to restructure in the face of
increasing global pressures, the industry must acknowledge that it is made up
of many stakeholders who represent the pieces of a complex and challenging
puzzle. These various interests will have to find a way to fit together if we
are to bring about a return to prosperity. Only by understanding the
limitations and interests of each stakeholder will we be able to identify a
framework that can accommodate all of our diverse interests. Our goal is to
deliver insightful, useful information that creates dialogue amongst
stakeholders, decision makers and benefactors of the coastal forest resource.
