MONTREAL, Dec. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The 31st Annual Telethon of stars,
broadcast live over 27-hours of programming this weekend on CTV-Montréal and
TQS from the Centre Claude-Robillard, has enabled volunteers from across
Quebec to raise $5,152,242 to support children's health research in the
province's key pediatric research centres.
At CTV-Montréal, hosts Randy Tieman, Lori Graham, Frank Cavallaro, Mosé
Persico, Tarah Schwartz, Todd Van Der Heyden, Cindy Sherwin and Paul
Karwatsky, supported by performers and feature-length films, called upon the
tremendous generosity of thousands of individual and corporate donors.
At TQS, hosts Florence K et François-Etienne Paré and team members Anouk
Meunier, Jean-Marie Lapointe, Manuel Hurtibise, Nathalie Slight, Carole
St-Denis et Mathieu Gaudet and sity-fice artists also reached out the public
to reduce children's diseases and suffering by donating to fundamental and

The Telethon of Stars, formerly the Foundation for Research into
Children's Diseases, has become the largest source of non-governmental funding
for children's health research in Quebec, having already distributed
$53,114,000 since 1977 to the four leading hospital research centres: the
Montreal Children's Hospital, the CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital, the Centre
hospitalier universitaire de Québec and the Centre hospitalier universitaire
de Sherbrooke, as well as to the newly established pan-Canadian Maternal,
Infant, Child an Youth Research Network .
