The Political Challenge: Implementing the new budget

    OTTAWA, Feb. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Expert political economist in Ottawa to
address Parliament, government policy-makers and community leaders.

    WHO: Dr. Marjorie Cohen, political economy professor at Simon Fraser

    WHAT: Dr. Cohen will unveil research results from a five-year study of
the effects on people of public policy changes during an economic downturn.
Dr. Cohen will explain the economic justifications for focusing government
spending on housing, making infrastructure projects more people-oriented,
expanding the benefits of the Canada Pension Plan and making Employment
Insurance more accessible. These policies would help Canada come out of the
recession further ahead than when it began.
