MONTREAL, Sept. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - On September 11, 72 Palais staffers
took part in their very first Journée Coup de pouce! The day was added to the
Palais' 25th Anniversary activity calendar. The employee turnout spoke volumes
about the organization's involvement in community work, as the event drew far
more than the target number of 50 volunteers.
The day focused on four issues: early childhood, the environment, family
and homelessness. Palais employees were divided in teams, and were dispatched
to five organizations to lend a helping hand with the work these perform in
Palais President and CEO Paul Saint-Jacques characterized Journée Coup de
pouce! as "an initiative that empowered our employees to become more actively
involved with the area's needy. It also encouraged many of them to get
involved in their own respective communities."
Together with Zip Ville-Marie, our volunteers cleaned up the banks of the
Lachine canal, while others organized provisions at the Moisson Montréal food
bank. The Benedict Labre House assigned our volunteers to performing some
repair work and serving meals. At Accueil Bonneau, our employees prepared and
served meals to the homeless. Our final group of volunteers carried out
maintenance work at Maison des enfants.
The work performed on that day was driven by the spirit of sharing.
Ultimately, it proved a much needed helping hand for organizations that strive
to make a difference in their respective communities on a daily basis. The
Palais' employees gave the experience a thumbs up and are proud of the results
of their contribution.
