The K2 Principal Fund L.P. acquires units of E.D. Smith Income Fund

    TORONTO, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - The K2 Principal Fund L.P. ("K2") announced that
it has acquired units of E.D. Smith Income Fund ("E.D. Smith"). As a result of
the acquisition of such units, K2 owns 1,226,100 units, representing
approximately 5.25% of the issued and outstanding units of E.D. Smith.
    The units were purchased by K2 in the open market on the Toronto Stock
Exchange. K2 acquired the securities for investment purposes only and may,
depending on market and other conditions, increase or decrease its beneficial
ownership, control or direction over, or exercise its current rights to
acquire, units or other securities of E.D. Smith through market transactions,
private agreements or otherwise.
