PICKERING, ON, Oct. 25 /CNW/ - Shopping just got a lot heart healthier at
Pickering Town Centre. The first-ever Heart&Stroke Put Your Heart into It!
Tour will be making an appearance on Thursday November 1st until Sunday,
November 4th providing shoppers with a free, interactive learning experience
about their heart health.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation presents its new 150-square foot
interactive heart health kiosk where shoppers can listen to the differences in
the sounds of healthy versus unhealthy hearts, look through viewfinders and
see first-hand the effects of unhealthy lifestyle choices on the heart and
watch free live CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) demonstrations
offered by trained EMS staff who will teach shoppers what to do in a cardiac
Shoppers will also get a chance to check out the Heart&Stroke Fitness
Wheel to learn just how much exercise they will need to burn off some of the
unhealthy food court choices they may have been contemplating for lunch.
Participants will walk away with tons of heart healthy information to
help them and their families make smarter lifestyle choices. And they will
have the chance to speak to Heart&Stroke Ambassadors who will be on hand to
help the public learn more about improving their heart health and how to get
involved with the Foundation.
Heart disease and stroke is still the leading cause of death in Canada -
with one in three Canadian deaths due each year to these devastating diseases.
