MONTREAL, Nov. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The Health Summit organized by the
Collège des médecins du Québec under the theme, The Health System is
Everyone's Business!, will be getting underway this coming Monday, November 5.
Bringing together all the key players in the health network, this three-day
assembly is to be held in the absence of politicians.
More than 100 representatives of different organizations are expected on
Monday at the Montefiore Club in Montreal, with the majority of the
professional orders, associations, medical federations, unions and groups
dedicated to the protection of those with health problems to be in attendance.
"We are delighted that these major players have accepted our invitation,"
underlines Dr. Yves Lamontagne, President and Chief Executive Officer of the
Collège des médecins. "Their interest demonstrates that they share our
commitment to the preservation of our health system and are prepared to work
together with the different network partners to improve it."
The Collège des médecins has also invited six other notable participants
to the Summit, most of whom are members of the National Order of Quebec. These
individuals are Mr. Claude Béland (former President of the Desjardins Group),
Mr. Hubert de Ravinel (founder of Les petits frères des Pauvres), Mr. Jacques
Henripin (demographer), the Honourable Louise Mailhot (partner and strategic
advisor with Fasken Martineau), Ms. Lorraine B. Palardy (founder of Les
The purpose of the Health Summit is to find creative solutions and
formulate practical and concrete proposals for the short-term to improve the
organization of services and care (Monday, November 5), administration
(Tuesday, November 6) and funding (Wednesday, November 7). The final report of
the health network will be made public towards the end of November.
