The Ecole supérieure de ballet contemporain is back on the road for recruitment - 2007-2008 National Auditions Tour

    MONTREAL, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - For more than 40 years now, the Ecole
supérieure de ballet contemporain de Montréal has been actively involved in
nurturing and promoting classical and contemporary dance in Canada. The
school's primary mission is to train professional dancers at the national and
international levels. Our diplomee work in major dance companies like the
Nederland Dans Theater, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Grands Ballets
canadiens de Montréal, the Ballet British Colombia, The Atlantic Ballet
Theater, the Ballet jazz de Montréal and more. Our students are taught the
classical repertoire along with giving them the opportunity to work with
contemporary choreographers, shaping a new generation of dancers open to all
style of dance.
    As soon as November, the Ecole supérieure de ballet contemporain de
Montréal (ESBCM) will be visiting several Canadian cities to recruit young
talent, age 8 to 19 for the 2008-2009 professional Dance-study program. The
dancers selected will be invited to take part in the second auditioning phase,
which is the Summer session held from July 2 to 25, 2008.


    - Académie de ballet classique (MONCTON)       NOVEMBER 24
    - Ecole Christiane Bélanger-Danse (QUEBEC)     JANUARY 25 and 26
    - Académie de danse de l'Outaouais (GATINEAU   FEBRUARY 2 and 3
    - Royal Winnipeg Ballet (WINNIPEG)             FEBRUARY 15
    - Alberta Ballet (CALGARY)                     FEBRUARY 16
    And in Montréal at the ESBCM                   APRIL 4 and 6

    Per city, there will be two auditions: Junior (age 9 to 12 years old) and
Senior (13 to 18 years old) and between auditions there will be a discussion
period for parents, students and other interested individuals who may have
questions about the ESBCM program. In some cities a few students will be on
hand for technical and artistic demonstrations.

    The Danse-Etudes program is recognized by the Quebec Ministry of
Education, and is spread out over a 12-year period, that is from Grade 3 to
graduation, i.e. a high school diploma plus a Diploma of Collegial Studies in
dance performance. The school's teaching is based for the most part on
classical technique, which is combined with additional classes in point work,
contemporary dance, folk dancing, physical conditioning, choreography,
repertoire, career management and dance history. Students also benefit from
information sessions on health and nutrition. The dancers, enrolled in the
dance-study program, receive along with a 20h/week dance training a top-level
academic education. The ESBCM is extremely proud of its teaching staff. Note
that some of our teachers studied at major institutions such as the Bolshoi,
the Opera de Paris, Royal Ballet and the National Ballet School of Canada. A
