Leading Canadian Retailers Invest in the Transformation of Toronto's East
TORONTO, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - As part of the official ground-breaking ceremony
for One Cole Condominiums, The Daniels Corporation announced that the Royal
Bank of Canada (RBC), Sobeys and Tim Hortons will be the first commercial
partners to embrace the vision of a revitalized Regent Park and call it home.
Construction of One Cole, located at Dundas and Parliament, began in September
2007, with first move-ins scheduled for spring 2009. One Cole will support the
evolution of a vibrant residential district in the heart of Toronto's east
downtown and will set a new standard for eco-friendly living and energy
"We are excited to be putting One Cole on the map, signaling the start of
the transformation of Toronto's east downtown neighbourhood," said Martin
Blake, vice-president of project implementation, The Daniels Corporation.
"With homes being built to the highest energy performance standards and the
creation of a mixed-use community that will attract residents of all income
levels, the vision of transforming this part of the city is becoming a
reality. In addition to the unique building features of One Cole, residents
will have the added value of enjoying the convenience of a Sobeys, Tim Hortons
and RBC right at their doorstep."
To demonstrate Daniels' commitment to building environmentally friendly
residential buildings, the 293-suite condominium is being built to the LEED(R)
Gold Certification Standard established by the Canada Green Building Council,
and will set a new benchmark for environmental sustainability and design.
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome The Daniels Corporation's One Cole
Condominiums to our dynamic east downtown neighbourhood," said Mayor David
Miller. "This eco-friendly condominium within the first phase of the Regent
Park Revitalization will change the streetscape of Dundas and Parliament,
injecting a true sense of excitement and invigoration. The fact that leading
Canadian retailers such as RBC, Sobeys and Tim Hortons are making a
significant commercial investment in the community's future speaks volumes to
this city's leaders, and the people who are going to be living and working
here. We are proud of the partnership created between The Daniels Corporation
and Toronto Community Housing to make this transformation possible."
In addition to providing valuable services, Tim Hortons, RBC and Sobeys
are committed to creating local job opportunities and being active leaders in
the community. Nick Javor, Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Tim
Hortons, Jennifer Tory, Regional President, Greater Toronto, RBC and Craig
Gilpin, President Operations, Sobeys Ontario all participated in the One Cole
ground-breaking ceremony, demonstrating their company's enthusiastic support
of the revitalization of this vibrant community. Tim Hortons will serve up
their signature refreshments, RBC will offer expert financial advice and
services to consumers and small businesses and Sobeys will offer a complete
food shopping experience including fresh food and groceries - all key to the
social and economic livelihood of this new community and all conveniently
located on the ground floor of One Cole at Dundas and Parliament.
One Cole is also proud to host the community's first Living Wall,
composed of lush, indoor flowering plants. This unique environmentally
friendly bio-technology will act as an air filter and remove pollutants from
the air for the condominium's amenity space. A second Living Wall will be
built inside the Sobeys grocery store for the same purpose. Sobeys is the
first grocery store in North America to feature this bio-technology.
In addition to the new 26,000-square-foot regional aquatic centre, which
will be built by the City of Toronto at the corner of Sumach and Dundas
Streets (construction expected to begin in fall 2008), One Cole residents will
also enjoy exclusive condominium amenities such as a 20,000-sq.ft. outdoor
landscaped courtyard and a state-of-the-art fitness studio, as well as 24-hour
Concierge Service and a Resident Services Director.
With prices starting from $189,000, One Cole is an excellent
homeownership opportunity. Priority registration is now available at
www.onecole.ca or by calling 416-955-0559.
The transformation of 69 acres of Toronto's east downtown into a vibrant
