QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the discussion regarding
the holding of the Moulin à paroles, the National Battlefields Commission
insists on taking stock of its involvement and role in this event.
The National Battlefields Commission does not organize this event, nor is
it in any way associated with the selection of participants or the readings
and speeches delivered during this event. The Commission never interferes in
the development of the contents of events other than those it itself
organizes. As with the other events held on the site of Battlefields Park, the
Commission therefore dissociates itself straight away from the content of the
performances offered by those who participate in the various events held on
the site, including "Le Moulin à paroles", as they are under the full
responsibility of the organizers and participants themselves.
The "Moulin à paroles" organizers followed the usual procedure provided
for in the Commission policy on the holding of events. The "Regroupement
Citoyen Le Moulin à paroles" has agreed to abide by all aspects of the policy
and accepts full responsibility for the performance of this event.
The Commission is responsible for managing Battlefields Park, a public
park accessible to everyone, which is at the centre of the important events
taking place in Québec City. This site is a favourite meeting place and, due
to its location, a natural attraction for the performance of various events.
This is why, every year, the Commission receives nearly 150 occupancy requests
from organizations wishing to hold a range of activities in the park,
including those of the "Moulin à paroles."
