Retailer has more rollbacks and everyday low prices than ever on key
merchandise from Easter candy to DVDs and games
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 12 /CNW/ - While the clocks moved forward for
daylight time, Wal-Mart Canada was busy rolling back prices on merchandise
across key categories for the Easter and March break holidays. The company
will roll back more than 3,500 prices in the weeks before Easter - more than
any prior year.
This year Easter - the third-busiest holiday of the year - falls earlier
than it has in almost 200 years and will coincide for many with another busy
and expensive time, March break.
Canadians are expected to shop during this period for everything from
Easter candy and cookware to DVDs and games. With thousands of rollbacks and
everyday low prices on apparel, sporting goods, and family fun, Wal-Mart
Canada expects its price reductions will allow customers to save millions of
dollars as they face the busy weeks ahead.
"With March break and Easter falling so close together, some Canadians
will not only find themselves pressed for time but financially challenged,"
said Sylvain Prud'homme, Wal-Mart Canada's senior vice president of
merchandising. "We're aiming to lift our customers' financial burden by being
a price leader across key Easter and March break categories and helping the
time-starved by offering one-stop shopping."
