The Bottom Line: Drive Safe, Drive Sober this long weekend

TORONTO, May 15 /CNW/ - Having fun this weekend? That is what people look
forward to all year. The beginning of summer and warm sunny days. People will
be heading off to cottages, restaurants, clubs, and parties. "Orillia Against
Drunk Driving (OADD) asks everyone to take care of friends. If your plans
include the drinking of alcoholic beverages, simply plan ahead to make your
occasions fun, make it safe, and then, make it home!" Said Doug Abernethy
president of Orillia Against Drunk Driving (OADD)
Our goal is to reduce and eliminate impaired driving through education
and public awareness. If you see a suspected impaired driver use our Ontario
RAID campaign and call 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1. Call in the location,
direction of travel and any other details about the vehicle that could help
police track it down, including licence-plate information. Ontario RAID
literature has been and continues to be distributed across the province of
Ontario to Ontario Provincial Police detachments who have used over one
hundred and sixty thousand wallet cards and brochures this past spring
throughout the province. Businesses organizations and citizens who are also
concerned with the threat of impaired driving distribute the RAID wallet card
and electrostatic window decals and other materials in their community along
with information posters alerting citizens to the program.
Attitudes are changing and no doubt you have seen this. It is no longer
socially acceptable to drink and drive, and many people are finding and using
alternative methods to get home, such as a designated driver. If you or your
workplace would like Electrostatic Window Decals for your vehicle, posters for
workplaces and businesses, wallet cards and brochures for customers please
contact us this material is free for the asking and you will be helping to
reduce this terrible crime of impaired driving that has devastated so many
families. You will be helping to save a life.
