The battle for Best Barista in the West takes place at the "Olympic Games" for professional coffee makers

    VANCOUVER, July 31 /CNW/ - The battle for best barista in the West takes
place August 14, 2008 at the Western Barista Championship at Heritage Hall,
Vancouver, BC. It will feature the return of Sammy Piccolo three time Canadian
champion and World Silver medalist.
    Spectators will see Piccolo of Caffe Artigiano and 11 other competitors
from Vancouver and Victoria's leading coffee shops battling for the Western
title and a spot at the Canadian National Barista Championship.
    The barista's have 15 minutes to prepare four servings each of espresso;
cappuccino and a signature drink of their own invention for a panel of judges.
    The MC will be current Canadian champ, Michael Yung who placed 5th out of
51 nations at 2008 World championships. It is open to the public from 10 am.
to 6 pm. and will feature complimentary coffee drinks and iced beverages.
Admission is by donation to the CoffeeKids charity, helping families in coffee
growing countries.
