Official Bank of CFL, Scotiabank Wishes Everyone a Great Grey Cup Weekend
TORONTO, Nov. 23 /CNW/ - Scotiabank, the Official Bank of the 2007 Grey
Cup and the CFL, joined thousands of Canadians today in looking forward to a
great Grey Cup Weekend.
"Scotiabank is proud to be a sponsor the CFL and the 95th Annual Grey
Cup," said John Doig, Scotiabank Senior Vice-President, Marketing. "Anyone who
has been at a CFL game over the 2007 season knows the passion that the fans
have for this sport. This game makes communities across the country richer and
Scotiabank is pleased to be a part of it."
Earlier this year, Scotiabank announced a renewed three year contract
with the CFL, making it the Official Bank of the CFL and the Grey Cup.
Scotiabank also renewed partnerships with the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders and
Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and became the Official Bank of the Edmonton Eskimos,
Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Scotiabank's sponsorship of the 95th Annual Grey Cup includes:
- The "Taking It Over The Top" VIP lounge at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre overlooking Canadian artists in concert including
Great Big Sea, Hedley and Loverboy running from Thursday,
November 22-Saturday, November 24th.
- Scotiabank is also proud to present the Scotiabank Grey Cup Gala,
hosted by TSN's Brian Williams. The event features comedian Brett Butt
and a performance by Blue Rodeo.
- On game day, a free event open to the general public, the Scotiabank
Cross Canada Tailgate Party on Bremner Street will feature a
performance by Kim Mitchell and will include a licensed area, food and
beverage, and a family and kids zone.
"This year, Scotiabank also ran the 'Take Possession' contest to bring
two fans and a guest each to the game," said Mr. Doig. "Grey Cup games are
always sold out and this is one way that we could give back to the loyal CFL
fan base in Canada. The draw was random, and the two winners turned out to be
from Saskatchewan. We hope that they enjoy their Grey Cup experience."
The "Take Possession" contest was an online chance to win a pair of
tickets to the Grey Cup(R), roundtrip airfare for two, three nights'
accommodation, and some amazing CFL(R) prizes. There were 10 additional
merchandise prize packs awarded including an official CFL(R) Wilson Football,
Reebok jersey and Reebok hat. Canadians could enter online or by texting
"TAKE" to short code 726842 (SCOTIA) during the contest period. The winning
fans were drawn at random from the entries received.
Scotiabank is committed to supporting the communities in which we live
and work, both in Canada and abroad. Recognized as a leader internationally
and among Canadian corporations for its charitable donations and philanthropic
activities, in 2006 the Bank provided more than $42 million in sponsorships
and donations to a variety of projects and initiatives, primarily in the areas
