Ten outstanding students honoured at OSSTF's annual meeting

    TORONTO, March 12 /CNW/ - For the 20th consecutive year, the Ontario
Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) has sponsored the Marion
Drysdale Awards which honours students from across Ontario for their
outstanding abilities and creativity. This year's theme was Innovation With
    OSSTF President Rhonda Kimberley-Young presented the eight provincial
awards, assisted by Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Education, at OSSTF's annual
meeting in Toronto on March 12, 2007.
    The awards were presented in eight divisions - six poem or essay
submissions in the prose/poetry categories and two in the creative categories.


    -   intermediate grades 9-10 academic
    -   intermediate grades 9-10 applied/essential;
    -   senior grades 11-12 university;
    -   senior, grades 11-12 college/workplace;
    -   French; and
    -   adult learner.


    -   visual arts;
    -   French or English video/audio/animation.

    Entries are judged at four successive levels: school, district, regional
and provincial. The competition is open to all Ontario public high school


    The Drysdale ceremony featured a professionally produced 15-minute DVD
about the students and their winning submissions. This film will be

    OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They
include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational
assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, psychologists,
secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support
