- RedMAX(TM) WiMAX products enable carrier to expand rapidly to meet market demand for fixed and portable broadband services - TORONTO, June 11 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Inc. (AIM: REDL), a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, today announced that Teledata de Mozambique, Lda, which is jointly owned by Telecomunicacoes de Mocambique (TDM) and Portugal Telecom, has expanded its RedMAX(TM)-based WiMAX network in four cities in Mozambique to deliver fixed and portable broadband services to businesses and residents. Teledata Mozambique installed Redline's RedMAX WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) systems in Maputo and Beira, the country's two largest cities, and quickly expanded its service to become one of the highest-capacity WiMAX networks in the world. In March, the company expanded its network to bring WiMAX to the cities of Matola and Nampula to serve enterprise customers. The next deployment stage will include the introduction of user self-installable RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Units that will enable customers to benefit from nomadic and limited portable WiMAX services. Teledata Mozambique will continue to optimize its RedMAX networks to increase the subscriber density, coverage and quality of service. "The response to the initial launch of our WiMAX network was tremendous. In just 11 months, more than 800 businesses and residents subscribed to our WiMAX broadband services. The ease of install and capacity of the RedMAX system enabled us to meet this demand and to generate a rapid return on investment that is contributing to further expansion of our network," said Luis Filipe de Lucas Mhula, Chief Executive Officer, Teledata Mozambique. "With its products' proven performance and its leadership in the WiMAX industry, Redline is an important technology partner to Teledata Mozambique as we implement our WiMAX strategy." Teledata Mozambique offers a range of pre-paid WiMAX service packages to suit the needs of its subscribers. With the expansion of its network, the company will introduce new services including packages tailored for specific markets (eg. residential, professional), high bandwidth packages of 512 KB and 1MB, and VAS (VPN) services over its RedMAX Network. Teledata Mozambique's RedMAX network has the capacity to service thousands of subscribers in Mozambique today. The planning and installation of the Teledata Mozambique network was managed by RapidCloud Technology, a South African systems integrator specializing in WiMAX systems. "Teledata Mozambique has very aggressive plans for the roll out of high-capacity, large-scale networks that offer increasingly advanced fixed broadband services," said Arnoud de Nooy, CEO of RapidCloud. "Redline's RedMAX delivers the performance and features that carriers benefit from current and emerging applications of WiMAX." "Teledata Mozambique has recognized the growing demand in its market for premium wireless services that require true broadband connections," said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Redline Communications Inc. "Redline is helping telecommunications providers throughout Africa and around the world to deploy the most proven and reliable WiMAX systems and to deliver the fixed and portable services they need to grow their business and better serve their customers. By choosing Redline, carriers have the opportunity to establish a first-to-market advantage and a rapid return on their WiMAX investment." Redline's RedMAX(TM) Family Redline's RedMAX family of WiMAX solutions includes the world's first complete system to receive the WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) mark for conformance to the WiMAX standards for performance and interoperability. Redline's WiMAX products also include the RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I) and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential services. The RedMAX Management Suite enables operators to monitor and control the network, ensuring high service availability. Redline is maintaining its WiMAX leadership with the expansion of its RedMAX family to include products for additional frequency bands, applications and standards. RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX Platform The RedMAX 4C is the latest addition to Redline's family of WiMAX products. Operating in the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum bands, RedMAX 4C is designed to conform to the requirements for 802.16e Certification Wave 2, which is the WiMAX Forum's official certification program for Mobile WiMAX. Supporting a high concentration of subscribers, it enables operators to realize a rapid return on their WiMAX investment, with a low total cost of ownership. The RedMAX 4C leverages Redline's proven, field tested and optimized fourth-generation technologies for TDD (Time Division Duplexing)-based Scalable-OFDMA-based systems. It provides carriers with an all-IP system that incorporates open standards to provide carriers the flexibility to deliver fixed, portable and mobile services with WiMAX. The new product family includes a modular, standardized (micro)TCA (micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) chassis base station that is small, lightweight and easy to deploy thereby minimizing site acquisition and construction costs and speeding up site buildout timelines. RedMAX 4C will also include a suite of indoor and outdoor fixed and portable end-user devices including laptops, mobile handsets and PDAs.
