Team Ontario Joins Forces With Ex-Pats

Premier McGuinty Meets Canadian Business Community In Shanghai

    TORONTO, Oct. 28 /CNW/ -

Premier McGuinty promoted Ontario's mission to China today at a luncheon
hosted by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (CANCHAM Shanghai).
The Premier is in China to support Ontario's environmental technology
companies. China has set an ambitious goal to become a world leader in green
technologies and sustainable development. The Premier asked the Canadian
expatriate business community to help strengthen ties between China and
Ontario. More investment from China will create jobs, opportunity and
prosperity in Ontario.
The CANCHAM Shanghai luncheon was held at the Shanghai Museum of
Contemporary Art (MOCA Shanghai). In the afternoon, the Premier continued on
to Nanjing, where he will participate in symposiums on higher education and
environmental protection tomorrow.

"As China's economy continues to grow, we want Ontario's prosperity to
grow along with it. We want to put our innovation to work to help China build
a greener economy," said Premier Dalton McGuinty.

"Ontario's competitive advantages are an educated and highly skilled
workforce and one of North America's largest Chinese populations with the
cultural and business connections and language skills needed to do business
with China," said Michael Chan, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

    - Ontario has 2,600 environmental technology companies.

    - CANCHAM Shanghai will host the Hello Allô Canada event in downtown
Shanghai November 7-9. The inaugural event will feature a street

    - The Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai, located in the People's
Park, was originally the park's greenhouse.
