Chodikoff & Horvath Launch New Tax Law Book - "Taxation & Valuation of
Technology: Theory, Practice, and The Law"
TORONTO, March 25 /CNW/ - The mere mention of tax law is enough to make
most Canadians shudder with anxiety. But Heenan Blaikie's David Chodikoff and
Deloitte's James Horvath have teamed up again to compile expert advice on
valuation and tax law, this time on the complex business of technology.
Drawing on the expertise of 64 contributors, the book covers a broad spectrum
of current valuation and tax issues and presents timeless insights from
Canada's judiciary on how the courts perceive valuation issues, complex
commercial cases and their litigation.
"This book represents the greatest and latest thinking from Canada's top
specialists in tax law and business valuation," says Chodikoff, a tax
litigator and partner with Heenan Blaikie. "The result is a useful reference
book for people in the business valuation community as well as specialists in
tax law, students and members of the judiciary, and even the general public.
It's a mammoth book, so it's bound to have a chapter of interest to anyone!"
In his foreword to the book, the Honourable Mr. Justice Morris J. Fish of
the Supreme Court of Canada says, "this remarkable volume provides timely
assistance and authoritative guidance." The book's opening chapters were
written by three other judges: the Honourable Karen R. Sharlow of the Federal
Court of Appeal, the Honourable Campbell J. Miller of the Tax Court of Canada,
and the Honourable Ian H. Pitfield of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
As with their previous tax law book, Chodikoff and Horvath are donating
all royalties of this book to the Canadian Cancer Society. Launched today in
Toronto, the 1,000-page book published by Irwin Law Inc. will sell for $95.
