TAs, contract faculty looking for progress in York U talks

TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - With one week to go before teaching
assistants and contract faculty at York University are in a legal strike
position, union spokespersons say they are looking for progress at the
bargaining table next week.
"We are firm believers in free collective bargaining," said Graham Potts
on behalf of the CUPE 3903 bargaining committee. "That's why we'll be looking
for the administration to bring forward proposals on our key issues when we go
back to the table next Tuesday."
The two parties are scheduled to meet again on October 30 and 31.
"Our strike preparations continue," Potts said. "At the same time, we
believe that it will be possible to negotiate a fair collective agreement if
we see some movement in key areas from the university."
