MONTREAL, Feb. 5 /CNW Telbec/ - On September 27 of last year, in the
presence of numerous partners and the Minister of Sustainable Development,
Environment and Parks, President Daniel Cotte of the Table pour la
récupération hors foyer (Issue Table for out-of-home recycling) announced the
birth of the new organization, the funding raised and the broad sectors
targeted by the future program.
Today Mr Cotte, President and CEO of Danone Naya Waters, was proud to
announce the beginning of the large-scale program for the recovery of
recyclable materials in municipal public areas and Quebec's restaurants, bars
and hotels, together with the launch of the organization's web site.
Supported by partnership agreements with the Quebec Federation of
Municipalities and the Union of Quebec Municipalities, for components
dedicated to the municipal sector, the Table's program will enable the rapid
installation of recycling facilities in parks, alongside streets and bike
paths, and in recreation centres, arenas and other municipal public places.
Program components for the hospitality sector (hotels, bars and
restaurants) offer two possibilities. In cases where recyclable materials can
be recovered on the municipal selective collection route, the program provides
funding for two rolling bins per establishment. Where the volume of materials
is too great or different recovery conditions are needed, block funding is
accorded for recovery service by a private entrepreneur.
Program details, the applicant guide and funding application forms are
available on the Table's web site, www.tablehorsfoyer.ca. Funding applications
that meet program requirements will be accepted until the fund is expended.
The Table pour la récupération hors foyer is a non-profit organization
composed of partners in the public, private and associative sectors whose
common goal is to optimize the selective collection of recyclable materials
outside the home. These partners have launched and implemented a three-year
program for which nearly $6,000,000 has already been raised. With this
program, an estimated potential of 40,000 tonnes of additional recyclable
materials will be recovered. We invite organizations interested in joining the
group to visit the section "Become a Member" on the web site.
