Sylvan Learning widens its doors during the municipal strike offering childcare at its GTA centres

TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - With Toronto municipal workers off the job and
the city's daycares and camps closed, many parents are scrambling to find care
services for their children. Beginning this Friday, June 26th, Sylvan Learning
- a leading provider of in-centre and live, online tutoring - is offering
full-day and half-day sessions of combined childcare and educational services
at its GTA centres for children over 5 years of age. The service is available
on first come-first serve basis at a cost of $20 per hour. Parents can visit to find the GTA Sylvan Learning Centre closest to them.
Themed activities will be arranged for children in areas such as reading,
math, writing and arts and crafts that will help keep their mental muscles
working during the municipal strike. Not only will children be supervised by
certified teachers from the Ontario College of Teachers at Sylvan Centres, but
they will be able to continue using the skills and knowledge that was learned
in the classroom during the school year.
"We understand that many parents are in a serious dilemma right now due
to the municipal strike in Toronto," says Jamie Fraser, Executive Director,
Sylvan Learning. "So we've arranged for additional teachers to be present at
our GTA centres, allowing us to accommodate more students during this time to
help parents in a bind. Space is limited, so parents should call us as soon as
possible to book a space for their child."

Friday, in full-day sessions from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and half-day
