Swapping business suits for sweat suits: Montreal business community pedals to cure juvenile diabetes - Fourth Annual Ride for Diabetes Research

    MONTREAL, Sept. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Denis Pellerin, Senior Vice-President,
Operational and Market Risk Management, National Bank - Chair of the Campaign
Cabinet of the fourth annual Ride for Diabetes Research and Daniel Lavoie,
spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will be kicking
off Ride 2007, this Friday September 7th, at 10 a.m. More than 2,500
participants from the Greater Montreal business community will join forces and
raise much needed funds to support major diabetes research projects. The
fundraising event takes place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Ride for diabetes research is an entertaining and unique fundraising
event where teams of five, having collected a minimum of $500 in pledges, take
turn riding stationary bikes. First introduced in 2004, the event has grown
significantly and, this year, the Ride 2007 Executive committee hopes to raise
$750,000 to help find a cure for diabetes and its complications.
Amongst the thousands of supportive participants you will recognize
Réjean Houle of the Montreal Canadian, Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium
Executive Vice-President, Richard Legendre, Montreal Impact Rudy Doliscat and
Lloyd Barker and Montreal Alouettes' Ambassador Peter Dalla Riva.
"Participants don't just make a donation to fund diabetes research. By
taking part in this activity, they deliver an extremely powerful message to
the two million Canadians suffering from diabetes and demonstrate that a cure
is hopefully soon to be found. You will be overwhelmed by the warm and
electrifying atmosphere in the main tent" explains Denis Pellerin.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1974 by parents
of children with Type I diabetes. The Foundation's mission is to find a cure
for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

This event is made possible thanks to the generosity of the following
sponsors: CTV, C-3, Clarion Hotel, Courchesne Larose, Festival, Gala Events,
Good Life Fitness, Guru Energy, Heinz, Lester Foods, Mansfield Club, McGill
Redmans, Mitchel Lincoln Packaging, Moishes, Multi-Marques, Naya, REAL Bagel,
